About Us
it provides quality planting material to the wine, table grape and dried fruit industries of Australia and abroad.
Viticlone proudly became the first vine nursery in Western Australia to achieve accreditation under the national
which requires annual independant auditing of all nursery operations and record keeping.
Operating since 1995, the nursery has modern facilities set on forty acres, providing a comprehensive range
of propagation products and services.
The nursery has planted a private `Library Collection' containing more than one hundred wine grape varieties
and clones. This collection will be continuously added to as new varieties and clones are introduced to
Western Australia, providing a valuable resource for industry into the future. Viticlone in partnership
to be able to illustrate their potential.
Through the establishment of Viticlone's own rootstock source block, the nursery is able to utilise the highest
quality propagation material for the grafting process. Our grafted vines are produced by growing out rootstock cuttings
for one year in the field nursery, grafting on the scion in the following year. and growing this on for one season.
The end result is an extremely robust grafted vine.
Viticlone has access to an extensive range of varieties for propagation from private industry sources,
In 2007 Viticlone successfully exported grapevine budwood to India for a joint venture between a
Western Australian wine company and an Indian beverage company. In addition to sourcing the large quantity
of budwood, the process included submitting samples for extensive virus testing, co-ordinating all AQIS export
documentation and advising the client on the best method of transporting the propagation material to maintain
quality. Futher exports were successful to India in 2008 and to Indonesia in 2009.
International imports of new varieties by Viticlone will be made available to industry following multiplication
of mothervines at the nursery.
Viticlone has developed a detailed Standard Operating Procedures Manual and has a continuing commitment
to improving operations and services to the industry.
